Exist proposals and programs for people to use bike as a sustainable mean of transport. Unfortunately, or at least Mexico continues as a country for cars, as proved with the sad removal of the Ciclov\u00eda Recreativa Cabo San Lucas (Cabo San Lucas Recreational Bike way).<\/p>

The past 30th of June a creator, driver and coordinator, Mario Meave, announced the closing of the cycling space after working during 14 continuous years. The news becomes sadder knowing that this Sunday The Cabo San Lucas Recreational Bike way celebrated its last anniversary. <\/p>

According to Meave, the reason to remove it was the lack of support on behalf of authorities, as the constant complaints of motorists and traders. These last groups, over all, made their constant anger known due the close of road on Sundays, even though these occur only four hours for the free and safe circulation of cyclists.<\/p>

That\u2019s how the last journey was performed the Sunday 7th<\/sup> of July of 2024, covering the 1.3 miles of space and where were performed other recreational activities, as dancing classes.<\/p>

Cabo San Lucas recreational bike way, a space for sports and family is leaving<\/strong><\/h1>

After the announcement, Meave apologized with all the people that used this space every Sunday for sports, distract or have a nice moment with family and friends. Remember that the Cabo San Lucas recreational bike way has a place for every athlete and non-motorized transport, used to assist runners to bike, electric scooter, roller skate, skateboard users and others. <\/p>

It\u2019s about a project that emulate to others of this kind, as the Paseo Dominical Mu\u00e9vete en Bici<\/a>, at Mexico City or Ciclov\u00eda Bogot\u00e1<\/a>.<\/p>

This kind of bike ways aren\u2019t permanent, but temporary during Sundays. The intention is close the road during some hours for cyclists and other users to circulate safe for a while. <\/p>

Due mental and physical health I close the cycle<\/strong><\/h2>

Unfortunately, isn\u2019t easy to maintain a healthy project when you don\u2019t receive the support of authorities neither population, and, on the other hand, the offenses and disrespect, such as in person as in social media<\/a>.<\/p>

During 14 years, Meave explains he had to face offenses, yelling and mistreatment of motorists, which always showed a reject before bike lane.<\/p>

In addition, the coordinator mentioned he never received support neither a budget by politicians neither trader, who never shared the positive message.<\/p>

I wanted to talk with the elected president, Christian Agundez G\u00f3mez, but is too much. There are people yelling me, above all, motorists of taxis, people that aren\u2019t interested on physical activation or healthy co-existence, commented Meave.<\/p>

Due the lack of support, resources, verbal offenses and the constant pressure of maintain security, the coordinator ensures that due \u201cmental and physical reasons\u201d he decided to stop the project.<\/p>

\u201cI don\u2019t want bike to be considered an annoyance, neither have problems with people that don\u2019t value this space free of vehicles”, said.<\/p>

On the other hand, mentioned to be happy of closing a cycle on its life where saw children exercising and participating on the competences that scheduled and that today they are adults.<\/p>

The real reason<\/strong><\/h2>

Yes, Meave mentioned finished this sport cycle for their own mental and physical health, and we can\u2019t blame him for taking a decision when, he also says, \u201calways swam against the current\u201d.<\/p>

For that, is necessary to mention the real reason of why the Cabo San Lucas recreational bike way is going to close, and is not because having thrown in the towel\u201d, as some mentioned.<\/p>

For a space like this to maintain, is necessary the cooperation and help of competent authorities, from the municipal ones to mobility.<\/p>

Unfortunately, the founder of the project never had that, and when he achieved a bit, the good will disappeared soon.<\/p>

For that, if Meave achieved that the Cabo San Lucas Recreational Bike way works during 14 years if a great achievement but also a denounce before the lack of state support.<\/p>
