In recent years, has been easy to notice an increase<\/a> i<\/a>n bike<\/a> use, leading to adapt and create new spaces for cycling. One of the most recent is the new ciclov\u00eda dominical de Duitama (Sunday bikeway of Duitama) in Colombia.<\/p>

A recreational bikeway, that as its name indicates, will be set all Sundays. Here we will explain you what you can find on it and where you can cover it.<\/p>

New Sunday Bikeway of Duitama, where? And when?<\/strong><\/h2>

The Sunday Bikeway of Duitama had its inauguration and first trip the last Sunday 12 of May.<\/p>

A permanent program where assistants can enjoy of it every Sunday. All cycle routes can be covered by bike, roller skates, walking or running with your family, friends and pets.<\/p>

It should be noted that, by being recreational, isn\u2019t about a fixed bike way, but is set temporarily in a route to follow. In this case, Sunday bike way of Duitama has a schedule of 06:30 to 10:30 am. However. The bikeway is temporary during that day and those hours, the program is permanent. Meaning, it will be performed all the Sundays of the year.<\/p>

How recreational bikeway operates?<\/strong><\/h2>

A recreational bike way is the one that, for a day and certain hours is set along important avenues of a city. Regularly, its set on wide avenues that allow the circulation of assistant in both ways. In Mexico, an example of it is the bike path of the Program Mu\u00e9vete en Bici<\/a>.<\/p>

To create it, in all the route to follow are installed many cycling devices, such as traffic paddles<\/a>, cones, traffic booms<\/a> and posts<\/a>, as others. All this works to close surrounding streets, and avoid the passage of cars during the mentioned hours.<\/p>

In this way, creates a safe space free of cars, where cyclists, skaters and other people can circulate calmly.<\/p>

Once the schedules are done, these tools are taken off and is allowed again the circulation of motorists in avenues. From that moment, the bike path ends, at least, until the next Sunday.<\/p>

What is the route of the Sunday bikeway of Duitama?<\/strong><\/h2>

Attention, if you want to go, consider that this will change the original route as of August 25th<\/sup>.<\/p>

Initially, the ride used to be in a circuit from Avenida de las Am\u00e9ricas to Carrera 20 and will return on the same route.<\/p>

However, after the three successful months, the municipal administration and through the Instituto de Recreaci\u00f3n y Deportes (Institute of Recreation and Sports) informed that the bike path will be moved to Avenida Circunvalar of Duitama. This, after the Sunday bikeway of Duitama was a success among society, for that, they try to find an ampler space for families and participants to enjoy of a better route, that, for now, will have 2.4 miles of length.<\/p>

Fun and activities for everyone<\/strong><\/h2>

As most of leisure activities, the aim is safe ride for cyclists, but aren\u2019t the only ones to enjoy it.<\/p>

This also offers many family activities for those who wish to practice other activities, as outdoor aerobics, yoga, and others. In addition, for those without a bike, can rent one through a rental program.<\/p>

Authorities ask to assistants to take all the precautionary measures, from indications to receive during the journey to wearing helmet for cyclists. For people who take children and pets, we request the constant attention of them.<\/p>
