One of the most important bike ways of South east of Mexico, Biciruta M\u00e9rida (M\u00e9rida bike route) just turned 18 years of existence. Almost 2 years of develop sports, healthy family co-existence and integration of sustainable transport among society.<\/p>

The mayor Alejandro Ruz Castro emphasized the importance of this program for the social values. Commented that the M\u00e9rida Bike route is a sports and recreational venue where everyone has a space<\/p>

\u201cThis program is designed to develop the best values that distinguish us as city: healthy coexistence, security, peace and calm, cycling practice as an alternative of urban mobility, sport, an appeal for population as visitors, meaning, we have a space that during 18 years has transformed in an alternative of family entertainment in both, night and Sunday editions\u201d, commented.<\/p>

M\u00e9rida Bike route, a space for sport<\/strong><\/h2>

This sport venue, which official name is Biciruta de Paseo de Montejo<\/a>, started activities in 2016 and has 3.2 miles of length. It covers the most emblematic avenues of the city, that goes from Ermita de Santa Isabel to Monumento a la Patria on Av. Paseo De Montejo.<\/p>

It’s about a recreational bike path<\/a> due operates on Sundays from 8 am to 12 pm and even in some occasions have night editions. These last have a great assistance, it can provide a unique experience by cycling during night in a safe and collective environment lighted by city lights as stars.<\/p>

Whether is in the Sunday edition during night, as assistants of M\u00e9rida bike route can be sure to have a safe journey. This is thanks to the work with Secretar\u00eda de Seguridad P\u00fablica y la Polic\u00eda Municipal (the Ministry of Public security and Municipal Police).<\/p>

The program also has 10 guides, first aid service and approximately 100 young people who perform their social service.<\/p>

A tourist attraction<\/strong><\/h2>

On its 3rd municipal inform, Ruz Castro stands out that both council of M\u00e9rida along with users of bike route, have positioned as one of the favorite programs of families. It\u2019s about an ideal space where converge sport practice and social co-existence.<\/p>

In fact, the governor detailed that since 2016, the M\u00e9rida bike route has transformed in a tourist attraction. On the 2023-2024 period had the visit of 750,326 people on the Sunday edition, while added 642,235 people in the night edition.<\/p>

M\u00e9rida bike route, a space for everyone<\/strong><\/h2>

It doesn\u2019t matter if you don\u2019t have a proper bike. Within this recreational bike way, as most of this class, has a bike rental program. An option is the program of municipal mobility \u201cEn Bici\u201d, that through an app, users can rent a bike.<\/p>

Likewise, M\u00e9rida Bikeroute has transformed little by little in a place of celebration. Is common to notice that year after year, a little bike ride or a little walking is one of the favorite activities during Father\u2019s Day or Mother\u2019s Day.<\/p>

In addition, is an excellent tourist option for people that want to explore the city downtown, any who desires to experience the gastronomy of Yucatan or buy a craft, will find different options in the vicinity of this recreational bike way.<\/p>

When you have the opportunity of visit them and ride them, don\u2019t forget to hydrate and apply sunscreen, due sometimes heat and sun-rays can be pretty strong.<\/p>
