People has demonstrated, one more time, the joy and need for cycling. Thanks to the Sunday bike way of Monter\u00eda, a new and practically just created recreational cycle path arrived to cheer the life of people.<\/p>

This cycling route is considered a joy as a sign of the need to create more and new cycling infrastructure<\/a>.<\/p>

In one hand, allowed people to have a space for family, fun and relaxation. On the other hand, were the citizens who, without the need of report it, demonstrated the need for such spaces.<\/p>

Sunday bike way of Monter\u00eda, the great surprise of the year<\/strong><\/h2>

Inaugurated on January 7th of 2024, the Sunday bike way of Monter\u00eda resulted being a nice surprise, since its appearance, has had a great acceptation and participation.<\/p>

The growth to its assistance has been radical and exponential. If we would ask you how many people you believe that assisted to the first editions, how many people you would answer? Maybe you would say that less than 100, or luckily, a bit more, right?<\/p>

Well, you are wrong. During the first Sunday bike ways, assisted among 300 and 400 cyclists. Now, after 6 months of its inauguration, this recreational cycle path has achieved to gather to more than 1,500 attendees per week.<\/p>

The assistance of cyclists has grown so fast that shows the interest people have for cycling and to perform other outdoor activities.<\/p>

Where and when to find it?<\/strong><\/h2>

Anyone wishing to ride on the Sunday bike way of Monter\u00eda, can do it on Sundays from 5:00 a. m. to 10:00 a. m<\/strong>.<\/p>

This is located from the Avenida Primera, in the teatrino of Ronda Norte, to 22 street.<\/p>

The best of all, is that for this cycling route, can assist any person that wants to perform a sport and join to one of the recreational activities that are offered along the circuit.<\/p>

Sunday bike way of Monter\u00eda, a space for everyone<\/strong><\/h2>

Germ\u00e1n Quintero Mendoza, director of Instituto Municipal de Recreaci\u00f3n y Deportes (INDER) (Institute of Recreation and Sports), mentions that, besides the route by bike, implemented strategies to involve different sectors of community. <\/p>

For example, in the most recent editions, was performed an entrepreneurship fair and a run of 5km that attracted to 500 participants. Likewise, every Sunday, different sport clubs perform some demonstrations of their disciplines, such as BMX, skating, athletics, that help them to be more visible and more people encourage to practice these. <\/p>

An incentive to local economy<\/strong><\/h2>

Sunday bike way of Monter\u00eda also represents a boost for local economy. In one hand, is foster the consumption in nearby businesses, at the same time has the support of others of private sector. <\/p>

We have included local entrepreneurs, offering spaces to promote their products, from food and beverages to athletic wear\u201d, esplained Quintero. <\/p>

According to the companies of private sector, they offer institutional support, as help with logistics through some of their employees.<\/p>

The need of cycling spaces<\/strong><\/h2>

In the case of Sunday bike way of Monter\u00eda, as all those belonging to the Recreational Bike way Network of the Americas<\/a>, is a reflect of the need to create new cycling spaces and improve the existent ones, as continue with their expansion.<\/p>

The increase in the number of cyclists to this section, from 300 to 1500 every Sunday in just a couple months, is evidence enough of the joy people have for cycling. <\/p>

Many times, people don’t pedal in streets, but, that doesn\u2019t mean they don\u2019t want to. In many occasions, is the lack of cycling infrastructure that impedes bike fans adventure to ride on it.<\/p>
