The application of the new rules started since last Thursday 12<sup>th<\/sup> of September.<\/p><p>The Montevideo City Hall informed that changes go from section of rambla since street Sarandi to canteras of Parque Rodo. They detailed that, in the south path, the permissible speed is according to the lane of circulation you take.<\/p><p>&#8220;Due to the new bike way implemented in south rambla among escollera Sarandi and fisherman&#8217;s club of Parque Rodo, it solved the adequacy of speed limits in that section&#8221;, mentioned the Montevideo City hall in a statement.<\/p><p>The changes in speed limits stayed in the following way:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The section from Sarandi streets to around 656 ft after the junction with Avenida Julio Mario Sosa and Juan Cachon, establishes two different limits: up to 27.9 mph to the lane next to bike way or parking lot space and up to 37.2 mph for the other lanes. <\/li>\n\n<li>In the north path, the Parque Rodo to the center, speed reduced from 46 to 37 mph between Eduardo Acevedo and Sarandi.<\/li><\/ul><p>In order to verify the respect of the speed limit changes, we set an &#8220;audit team&#8221; to the height of Rambla and Paraguay which technology allow to distinguish the speeds of each lane.<\/p><h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-safety-for-pedestrians-and-cyclists\"><strong>Safety for pedestrians and cyclists<\/strong><\/h2><p>Authorities indicated the changes in speed limits try to enhance safety in these zones, due record a considerable crossing of pedestrians. Now, with the bike way incorporation, they are trying that cars slow down their speed when circulating.<\/p><p>Likewise, the new bike way is part of the project Late la Rambla. It\u2019s first section from Sarandi to Carlos Maria Morales, is already complete, while the second one, of Carlos Maria Morales up to Fisherman\u2019s Club is in construction. <\/p><p>Finally, we must mention that the fines and speed limits will be 100% applicable until <a href=\"https:\/\/multisenal.com.mx\/senales-de-transito\/\">vertical signage<\/a> is changed for the one that indicates the maximum speed recently established.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Rambla section in Montevideo, applied changes in speed limits due installation of a new bike way.
