Great and good news for everyone… One of the Mexico City Government goals in mobility matters is increasing bikeways to double for 2030.<\/p>

The previous information was after current government wanted to increase a 240% in the construction of bikeways among 16 municipalities<\/a>.<\/p>

The project is part of the Program of Circular Economy<\/a> made by the Ministry of Environment (Sedema) in the past stewardship. The intention of taking care of environment is motivated by the sustainable public and private transport; for that, requires to implement integral projects to mitigate the greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>

Of course, part of the different sustainable mobility<\/a> and transport, bike is the best of them, after walking of course. For that, is logical that among these integral projects is considered the expansion of bikeways in CDMX.<\/p>

Nowadays, capital has 279 miles of this cycling infrastructure. According to that document, published on capital gazette, in 6 years will be implemented 961 miles of exclusive lanes for cyclists. Besides, the head of state, Clara Brugada, it is committed to build other 186 miles of the already mentioned. \u00a0<\/p>

Municipalities have faculties to implement more bikeways in CDMX<\/strong><\/h2>

With Brugada’s promise, it would be a total of 466 miles of bikeways, and the required construction of at least 497 miles of these lanes.<\/p>

This seems a pretty rough goal, however, it isn\u2019t impossible due each municipality or city hall can contribute to that. Independently from the program made by sedema, the delimitations can implement bikeways by their own.<\/p>

As, Alessandra Rojo de la Vega, Cuauhtemoc mayoress who mentioned to implement 12.8 miles of bikeways in that zone, as bike-parking places and schools.<\/p>

Likewise, Miguel Hidalgo mayor, Mauricio Tabe, works on a plan for these roads projection, as the maintenance of existing infrastructure.<\/p>

Until 2024, 11 of the 16 city halls of capital that have a cycling infrastructure are:  Gustavo A. Madero, Cuauht\u00e9moc, Benito Ju\u00e1rez, Miguel Hidalgo, \u00c1lvaro Obreg\u00f3n, Iztapalapa, Azcapotzalco, Xochimilco, Tl\u00e1huac, Iztacalco y Venustiano Carranza.<\/p>

With that, is expected that bikeways in CDMX increase to double for 2030.<\/p>

On the other hand, let\u2019s remember that bike lanes isn\u2019t about creating and confining these tracks in any place. These must work for citizenship, interconnecting with other public transports and other sites of interest as benefit to users.<\/p>
