Camarones bike way, how did arise?<\/h2>

The born of this camarones bike way<\/a> is similar to the bike route of Insurgentes. Their creation came from the need and stayed for the satisfaction of mobility.<\/p>

In 2020, during COVID-19 pandemic, Azcapotzalco city hall created an emerging bike path to support journeys of people during contingency.<\/p>

At the beginning, this lane was thought to be temporal, but usefulness was so important that neighbors ask for its permanent installation<\/a>.<\/p>

For that, City Government performed the necessary works for bike route to be permanently and benefit inhabitants. That’s why, on January 9th<\/sup> of 2024, mobility secretary, Andr\u00e9s Lajous, Azcapotzalco mayoress, Margarita Salda\u00f1a Hern\u00e1ndez and director of the Instituto del Deporte (Sport institute), Javier Hidalgo, officially inaugurated the Camarones bike route.<\/p>

What is the length, how much did it cost and how is it built?<\/h2>

The creation of this cyclist infrastructure has an investment of 16.8 million of pesos. Built by the Secretar\u00eda de Obras y Servicios (Secretariat of Works and Services) with a considerable and useful length. <\/p>

In total, the Camarones bike route has 3.59 length miles in both ways. Bike route cover from Calzada de los Gallos to Avenida 22 de febrero, one of the most important of this municipality.<\/p>

Infrastructure is signed with vertical and horizontal elements, as confined from vehicle transit with confibicis. In this way, cyclists can transit through this more safely. It also has an implementation of neutral areas and signage reinforcement in pedestrian crossings, having a healthier co-existence among all the involved users.<\/p>

High integral connectivity<\/h2>

Another aspect of Camarones bike path is the excellent inter-connectivity with other bike paths, public transport system, and points of interest.<\/p>

This has connection with the lines 6 and 4 of trolleybus of the Servicio de Transportes El\u00e9ctricos (STE) (Service of Electric Transports), the bus-bike lane of Eje 2 Norte and the bike ways of Casco de Santo Tom\u00e1s and Ferrocarril de Cuernavaca<\/a> (Cuernavaca Railroad). Likewise, connect with the Metropolitan bike way<\/a> that lead to Naucalpan, in State of Mexico.<\/p>

What are the neighborhoods that benefit directly? <\/h2>

Centro de Azcapotzalco, Claver\u00eda, Del Recreo, Jard\u00edn Azpeitia, Nueva Santa Mar\u00eda, Obrero Popular, Plutarco El\u00edas Calles, San Bernab\u00e9, San Salvador Xochimanca, Santa Mar\u00eda Malinalco, Sector Naval, Sindicato Mexicano de Electricistas.<\/p>

Camarones bike path, 100% recreational infrastructure<\/h2>

If connectivity that this bike route offers is wide, the places that connect with can be wider.<\/p>

Some of the places that you can arrive pedaling are Parque Azcapotzalco, la Explanada Delegacional, Hospital de la Divina Providencia. <\/p>

In addition, it has a direct connection with Azcapotzalco historic center where you can visit Casa de Cultura and others, such as historic and familiar canteens with more than 100 years of existence as the Dux de Venecia.<\/p>

One of the most interesting points… The city hall church, carved in stone with a great red ant. The legend says that ant moves forward year by year and when this gets to the top of the bell tower, will be the end of the world.<\/p>
